Joan Subirana "Subi" ha estudiado dibujo, cómic, diseño gráfico y arte. En el año 2000, ganó el Premio al Mejor Álbum Ilustrado Tombatossals y, desde entonces, ha trabajado como ilustrador de literatura infantil. Ha publicado más de 150 títulos, muchos de los cuales han sido traducidos al hebreo, holandés, inglés, chino, coreano o francés, entre otros. Junto con Anna Obiols, ha ganado múltiples premios de literatura infantil, como el Apel-les Mestres (2008), los Premios Parcir (2004) o el Lactància i Criança (2008 y 2012).
