A Midsummer Night's dream - Visul unei nopti de vara
A Midsummer Night's Dream
Dar dac-aceasta-i voia sortii rele,
Sa induram si noi primejdii grele:
Ca toti iubitii, - noi s-avem rabdare,
Caci nu-i pe lume-amor lipsit de chin,
De ganduri negre si de-adanc suspin,
De dor, de lacrimi si de griji amare!
lf then true lovers have been ever cross'd,
It stands as an edict in destiny:
Then let us teach our trial patience,
Because it is a customary cross,
As due to love as thoughts and dreams and sights,
Wishes and tears, poor fancy's followers.
Fragment:
“LYSANDER (AWAKING):
And run through fire I will
for thy sweet sake.
Transparent Helena! Nature shows art,
That through thy bosom makes me see thy heart.
Where is Demetrius? O, how fit a word
Is that vile name to perish on my svvord!
HELENA: Do not say so, Lysander; say not so.
What though he love your Hermia? Lord, what though?
Yet Hermia still loves you: then be content.
LYSANDER: Content with Hermia! No; I do repent
The tedious minutes I with her have spent,
Not Hermia but Helena I love:
Who will not change a raven for a dove?
The will of man is by his reason sway'd;
And reason says you are the worthier maid.
Things growing are not ripe until their season:
So I, being young, till now ripe not to reason;
And touching now the point of human skill,
Reason becomes the marshal to my will (...)
LYSANDER (DEZMETICINDU-SE):
Iubita mea Helena! Inger sfant,
Atata de fermecatoare esti!
Heleno, ah, ce stravezie esti!
Cum toate se schimbara fara veste!
Vad inima-ti, o vad prin sanul tau!
Demetrius ce face? Unde este?
Un nume-al unui om ce-i demn sa cad
Ca un misel, strapuns de-aceasta spada!
HELENA: O, taci, Lysander! Nu-l vorbi de rau!
Caci Hermia si lui ii este draga!
E indragita sufletului tau,
Tu singur ai iubirea ei intreaga.
Nu poate fi un om mai fericit!
LYSANDER: Cum pot sa fiu, Heleno, multumit,
Ca Hermia ma place? Nu! Mi-e sila
Oricare rod isi are vremea Eu, pana azi, prea tanar, nu avui
O minte coapta... Simturile mele
Sunt azi desavarsite, si prin ele,
Stapana pe vointa, mintea mea,
Ma-ngenuncheaza azi in fata ta (...)”
