Uniquely challenging as it has been, 2020 has proved a year of profound reconsideration, reinterpretation and reevaluation of essential world values. The fifth volume in the West University of Timisoara's American Studies series stands proof of this well-coagulated academic team's theoretical concern for and practical preoccupation with the contemporary understanding of Americanness and its discourses, as they resonate throughout the world: not solely within, but also without the United States. Thus, despite adverse circumstances, the latest addition to the growing collection of student essays, Discourses of Americanness: Bridging (Non)-Fictional Divides, comprises the largest number of contributions so far. The nineteen texts have been divided into four large sections, which draw a most interesting interactive map of the American Studies B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. students' critical readings and responses, across a wide cultural spectrum.
