Albumul prezinta o selectie de 108 imagini in care apar „ferestre insufletite” din mai multe tari, fotografiate de catre Miya Kosei pe parcursul a doua decenii. Numarul lor nu a fost ales la intamplare, ci plecand de la ipoteza ca ar exista 108 categorii de emotii. Fara a-si propune sa epuizeze acest inventar emotional, Miya Kosei reuseste sa surprinda „un evantai de trairi umane autentice, in care fereastra nu este decat un pretext, o rama pentru emotie”, sa se apropie, cu discretie si cu infinita delicatete, de cei care se oglindesc in ferestre sau privesc lumea prin ele – copii, batrani, gospodine, muncitori, mame – evitand, totodata, pitorescul facil si artificiile tehnice spectaculoase. Kosei nu neaga puterea de fascinatie a imaginii reflectate, dar nici nu capituleaza in fata ei, preferand dialogul, unghiurile inedite, cercetarea subtila a acestor lumi virtuale stralucitoare. Textele semnate de Lucia Terzea-Ofrim, conferentiar la Facultatea de Litere din Bucuresti, aduc o serie de precizari necesare si de interpretari posibile, completand un demers artistic ce propune „fereastra ca punct de observare a omenescului”.

 

This album features a selection of 108 images of “living windows” from several countries, which have been photographed by Miya Kosei over a span of two decades. Their number was not chosen at random, but starting from the hypothesis that there are 108 categories of emotions. While Miya Kosei does not set out to exhaust this emotional repertoire, he successfully manages to capture „a wide range of authentic feelings, the window being just a pretext, a frame for emotions”, to approach, with discretion and infinite delicacy, the people who mirror themselves in the windows or gaze at the world through them – children, elderly people, housewives, workers, mothers – concurrently avoiding shallow picturesqueness and stunning special effects. Kosei does not deny the power of fascination of the reflected image, but he does not surrender before it either; rather, he prefers the dialogue, the unusual angles, the subtle investigation of these dazzling virtual worlds. The texts signed by Lucia Terzea-Ofrim, professor at the Faculty of Letters in Bucharest, provide a number of necessary clarifications and possible interpretations, thus completing an artistic effort which proposes “the window as the place for observing what makes us humans”.
