When Mei Lei runs into Alexandre Broduer at a family function there is no denying their electric chemistry. It turns out Alexandre is her brother-in-law's brother and Mei is his sister-in-law's sister. Alexandre quickly throws a wrecking ball into Mei's established life, leaving her to question whether she's as charmed by her fiance's needy tendencies as she's made herself belive.

When Alexandre steps into the picture Mei Lei is laser focused on her job at Livin', the tech world's hottest start-up. She is kicking butt and taking names as the Senior Director of Brand Marketing. Sure, the eighty-hour weeks can be grueling, but she goes home to Joey, her adoring fiancé. A fellow Queens native, Joey keeps Mei grounded as she loses track of the days holed up in Livin' headquarters and hopping from one virtual call to the other.

Alexandre, a biology professor who's back in New York after failing to achieve tenure in Oregon, is unenthused about the prospect of starting over after two decades of Zebrafish research. Alexandre is more than ready for a fresh start, but is feeling slightly defeated at the prospect of settling for a teaching role at a state school.

With her wedding date fast approaching, Mei must make a choice. And when she does the story doesn't end there--Mei and Alexandre, who have both relied on their jobs for a sense of purpose, make a pact to figure out what it truly means to have it all in terms of love, work, and their lives.
