K-2 ESL Phonics: reading, handwriting, speaking practice

Do you work with a primary elementary student who is learning English as an additional language (ESL, ELD)? Does your English Language Learner (ELL) need explicit phonics instruction along with vocabulary instruction? This workbook has nine lessons that include pictures to support vocabulary development.

The workbook included directions for the lessons. This makes the workbook ideal for a tutor, parent volunteer, or assistant to implement.

Each chapter includes:

• Phonics Lesson introducing the sounds of each letter and words that make the letter sound
• Decodable reading passage
• Matching decodable sentences with pictures
• Vocabulary sentence frames using concepts from the reading passage.
• Spelling practice where students build words using letter tiles
• Letter Formation and handwriting practice

Each lesson introduces two or three letter sounds at a time.
