Twelfth Night Shakespeare for kids: Shakespeare in a language children will understand and love

Set sail for Illyria - where love is wild, identity is slippery, and nothing is quite what it seems.

Twelfth Night is one of Shakespeare's most enchanting comedies - and in this adaptation, its magic is reimagined especially for young readers, without losing a single spark of the original.

Along the sun-warmed coastlines of Illyria, a young woman named Viola washes ashore after a shipwreck and must disguise herself to survive. What follows is a delirious tangle of mistaken identities, misplaced affections, and gloriously comic schemes - all spinning toward a resolution that is equal parts hilarious and deeply heartfelt.

Why young readers will love this adventure:

• Authentic and accessible - the original acts and scenes are preserved, giving children a genuine encounter with Shakespeare in language they can actually enjoy
• Unforgettable characters - from the brave and quick-witted Viola to the pompous Malvolio, every character leaps off the page with color and life
• Laughter with meaning - the comedy carries real lessons about loyalty, sincerity, kindness, and the dangers of taking oneself too seriously
• A gateway to great literature - crafted to spark curiosity and grow a love of reading that will stay with young readers for life

Twelfth Night has charmed audiences for over four centuries. Now it's ready to charm a new generation - one laugh, one twist of fate, and one wonderful surprise at a time.
