This is the official postwar history of the 5th Bombardment Group (Heavy), comprised of the 23rd, 31st, 72nd and 394th Bombardment Squadrons (Heavy), in the Pacific and CBI theatres of operations in World War II. From Pearl Harbor, through Midway, the Central Pacific, Guadalcanal, the Northern Solomons, the Eastern Mandates, the Bismarck Archipelago, New Guinea, the Western Mandate, the Southern Philippines, Borneo, Luzon, and China, this bomb group fought as part of the 13th Air Force.
