She has received grants from the Poetry/Film Workshop, Xeric Foundation, Intermedia Arts, and the Wisconsin Arts Board. She has worked for many years in the nonprofit literary arts at organizations including Poets & Writers and 826 National. She is currently the Executive Director of the Academy of American Poets, the organization behind Poets.org, National Poetry Month and Poem-a-Day.
