America's Story in Events and Personalities

America's Story in Events and Personalities - Ronald E. Rhodes

America's Story in Events and Personalities

De (autor): Ronald E. Rhodes

The author, Ron Rhodes, is a seventy-six-year-old American Viet Nam Veteran and a former School Psychologist. He has been a life-long student of American history. Seeing a series of American high school graduates, being interviewed, who know virtually nothing about the true American story, motivated Ron to write this book. He hopes it will offer an honest, accurate, un-varnished, 'good, bad and ugly' record of the significant events and personalities that formed the America we love.

'America's Story in Events and Personalities strives to seek out the events that most impacted our national development. It intends to include, as they come up in the linear chronology of our history, moderately complete biographies of influential personalities. Woven through the fabric of the text are extensive coverage of our Native American history, the history of slavery in America and the history of the Women's Rights Movement.

A good history tells you the truth. It provides examples of the best of us and the best of our accomplishments, as well as revealing our greatest flaws, sins and failures. The greatest and best we try to emulate, and from the worst we strive to learn, and to better ourselves.

The author's hope is that, in this day and age of electronic resources, there may still be a few young people who love actual books. It's much easier to go to YouTube or Wikipedia or Google for an instant review of some historical event. This collection offers a resource that brings all of American history, up to the late 1870's, together in a single, tangible, real-life BOOK. Put it on your coffee table and, when you're bored, pick it up and read segments that most interest you.
