At Least He Wasn't Hitting You...: A Personal Memoir of Abuse and Survival.

De (autor): Greg Mcvicker

McVicker, Greg: - Irish author, poet and storyteller, Greg McVicker, was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He grew up during the heightened period of sectarian hatred and a violent, political war known as 'The Troubles' which claimed the lives of 3,700 people. At age fifteen, his parents relocated their family by way of immigration to Winnipeg, Canada. He describes this as an 'Everlasting Homesickness'. Writing unashamedly from the heart, he composes stories and narrative poems which delve into arduous topics regarding the human journey of life. He published three new books to tell his and the story of many others whom he's met. He composes his works as a social worker, drawing inspiration from his experiences and working with marginalized populations. These include: Residential Schools, Addictions, Grief, Loss and Death, Poverty, Relationships, the Sex Trade, Child Welfare, Political and Religious ideologies, Spiritual Beliefs, The Troubles, and Irish Folklore and Mythology. Now a social worker, Greg is unwavering in his efforts to shed light on various world experiences that people have in their daily lives, both individually and collectively, but are often left to suffer in silence. Although Greg obtained his social work degree at the University of Manitoba, along with his minor degree in Native Studies, much of his work focuses on advocating for and improving the lives of Canada's Indigenous population, specifically the Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) within the province of Manitoba. He works as a Supervisor in the field of child and family services. Greg does several speaking engagements within the United States of America based on his experiences and memories of growing up during 'The Troubles' within Northern Ireland's dark history. In addition to this, Greg is branching out and is currently narrating and producing the audio versions of his books which should be available soon. Recently, Greg turned his attention to scribe the true life story of a friend. Her personal memoir is a gripping, yet unsettling tale of a life trapped in an abusive marriage. This story speaks to similar experiences of thousands of others who have walked in this woman's shoes. Lastly, Greg has written and produced awareness videos for both Pandemic Preparedness and HIV Prevention. He is seeking to move his latest book, 'At Least He Wasn't Hitting You...' into screenplay production whereby he will act the role of the main male character.
