Detjen Costabel, Stephanie: - Stephanie Detjen Costabel is a mother of three, wife, and fierce advocate for medically fragile children, including those with both developmental and intellectual disabilities. Her daughter, Alessia, is the inspiration for this memoir. Stephanie was born in Uruguay and currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina, with her husband and children. Stephanie is an alumna of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she graduated with a B.A. in International Studies.An accomplished artist and homemaker, Stephanie enjoys many hobbies, including painting, writing, reading, and spending quality time with her family.
