A conservative Texas Republican known for his often-confrontational style, he holds a Ph.D. in economics and taught at the University of North Texas before running for Congress. Armey is currently a Senior Policy Advisor at Piper Rudnick, a law firm, and cochairman of Citizens for a Sound Economy, an organization that promotes free markets and limited government. His books include The Freedom Revolution and The Flat Tax.
