When the Soviet authorities discovered her father's role in the revolution, they sent a death squad to her father's home to kill him. Fortunately, Joszef was warned shortly ahead of time, and the author, her mother, and father, escaped Hungary that very night, making a daring, last-minute escape from their beloved homeland.
