Douglas Villien, Sr. is a Baton Rouge land planning consultant and author of four books, Forgotten Baton Rouge, Between the Crossroads, The Artwork of Douglas Villien, and Des Montagnes Aux Prairies/From Mountains to Prairies. He served as a city planner for Baton Rouge from 1972 until his retirement in 2001. He is a native of Abbeville, Louisiana and a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana. His works have been featured in Country Roads Magazine, The Meridional, The Daily Advertiser, The Advocate, American Press, Tarentaise Hebdo-Savoie, France and other regional newspapers.
