Eavesdropping in Oberammergau

Salk, Hilary: - As the only child of a Jewish American military family, Hilary Salk moved from place to place in the US and overseas. Like the young eavesdropper in her novel, Eavesdropping in Oberamamergau: An Understory, she lived in post-World War II Oberammergau, Germany, from 1949-1952, just as the villagers began immersing themselves in their parts as Biblical characters in the 1950 The Passion Play. She is a graduate of Brown University and earned an MAT in English and an MSW from RI College. She has written two other novels (unpublished), has contributed to an early edition of Our Bodies, Ourselves, and has a short story published in The Jewish Women's Literary Annual 2011. She has begun to imagine a sequel to this book. In addition to her writing, Hilary founded the RI Women's Health Collective, ran for governor of Rhode Island in 1982, and served as the broker for Salk Real Estate, Providence, Rhode Island, for 25 years.
