Keith Hopkins was a professor of Ancient History at the University of Cambridge and vice-chancellor of King's College. He was one of the most passionate historians in reinterpreting Roman history and culture over the past fifty years. He authored Conquerors and Slaves (1978), Death and Renewal (1983), and A World Full of Gods (1999). He passed away in 2004.
