Four Walls of Stone: An Innocent Woman's Journey Through the U.S. Prison System

On a beautiful California evening, in the early spring of 2002, I was driving my Jeep Wrangler with my niece, on our way to get burgers. Out of the blue I got a phone call from someone who owed me money for a squirrel that I had sold her - a six-month-old ground squirrel that I could no longer provide for.

Little did I know that things wouldn't turn out to be that simple. That beautiful evening turned out to be the worst night of my life. My entire life changed forever and would never be the same. From that point on, I would never trust anyone, especially anyone in my entire family again.
