Just a Few Jumper Stories: A Collection of Smokejumper Adventures

Raised on a farm outside of Prosser, WA, Mr Dow graduated with a degree in Education from Washington State University. He began smokejumping in McCall, ID in 1968 and transferred to the Alaska base in 1975. Over 32 years he jumped 286 fires in nine Western states. He remained at the bottom level of the jumper base his entire career in order to jump more fires. He has hitchhiked over 50,000 miles in the US and Mexico and enjoys foreign travel, reading, hiking, camping, woodworking, and fly fishing. He currently lives with his wife and teenage boy in a log house he built several miles off the grid in central Washington.
