Leading the Little Ones to Christ: An Aid to Catechists of the First Communion Class
In the early 20th Century, German educators Dr. H. Steiglitz and Rev. Michael Gatterer, S.J. developed a method of teaching the Catechism to children inspired by Our Lord's teaching in parables. By first appealing to the imagination of the child through storytelling or pictures, the lesson is more easily absorbed and understood. This method, which came to be known as The Munich Method, was brought to the United States through the work of Rev. George Dennerle, who here presents an English translation and adaptation of one of the key manuals of this movement, Augustine Gruber's Elementarkatechesen.
