Since his debut in 1982 with the short story anthology Fangeliv, Roy Jacobsen (Oslo, 1954) has stood out as an original, incisive, and profound storyteller, particularly interested in the underlying psychology of human relationships and actions. He has been nominated twice for the Nordic Council's Literary Prize for the novels Seierherrene (1991) and Frost (2003). He was also a finalist for the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award in 2009 for Hoggerne, and in 2017, he became the first Norwegian writer nominated for the Man Booker International Prize for the novel translated into Spanish as Los invisibles. His books have been published in 36 territories. He is the author of more than twenty titles and a member of the Norwegian Academy of Language and Literature.
