For the last 34 years Mr. Eric R. Pearson has been worked in fiber optic communications. This involvement includes a wide variety of activities. Mr. Pearson has delivered 507 training presentations and trained more than 8400 personnel in proper installation and design procedures. Between his field installations and training, he has installed and supervised more than 46,648 connectors. Mr. Pearson has performed tens of thousands of OTDR, ORL, insertion loss, and dispersion tests on both multimode and singlemode cables. From 1995-1997, Mr. Pearson was a Director and the Director of Certification, of the Fiber Optic Association (FOA). As the latter, he is responsible for developing requirements and examinations for basic to advanced certification of fiber optic installation personnel. The FOA has designated Mr. Pearson a Master Instructor. Since 1999, Mr. Pearson has been a Master Instructor for the Building Industry Consultants Services International (BICSI), and the developer of the BICSI fiber optic network design program. From 1986-2004, he was a Member, Editorial Advisory Board, Fiberoptic Product News. Mr. Pearson has provided consulting services to hundreds of companies in the areas of fiber network design and specification, technical and marketing evaluations, and technical support for law suits. Mr. Pearson received his education at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (BS, 1969) and Case-Western Reserve University (MS, 1971). Both degrees are in Metallurgy and Materials Science. Mastering Fiber Optic Connector Installation is Mr. Pearson's ninth book on fiber optic communications. At this time, Mr. Pearson is working on two additional books on fiber optics.
