Desai, Meghnad: - Meghnad Desai is an Emeritus Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics where he taught for 40 years. He has written extensively on Indian history and politics, and among his books are Divided by Democracy: Why is India a Democracy and Pakistan is not a Democracy (2005, jointly with Aitzaz Ahsan), The Rediscovery of India (2009), and The Raisina Model: Indian Democracy at 70 (2017). His other titles include Politicshock: Trump, Modi, Brexit and the Prospect for Liberal Democracy (2017), Anamika: A Tale of Desire in a Time of War (2020), and Mayabharata: The Untold Story behind the Death of Lord Krishna (2022). He was made Lord Desai of St Clement Danes in 1991, and awarded the Pravasi Bharatiya Puraskar in 2004 and the Padma Bhushan in 2008.
