Whatever you put your faith in will affect every aspect of your life. People have faith in lots of things. Some have faith in people - a boyfriend or girlfriend, a husband or wife, a child or grandchild, a parent, sports heroes, singers (e.g., American Idol), religious leaders, and even sometimes in government officials. Others have faith in accumulating money/possessions, being successful at work, or achieving a particular goal in life. This book is about faith in God, and it is for everyone, Christians and non-Christians. Charmin and Harold are both Christians, and this book is primarily addressed to Christians, particularly those not so sure about their faith. For those who are sure, this book should affirm and increase their faith. Non-Christians may also find their own faith in God strengthened, particularly those from monotheistic traditions. Even non-theists and polytheists may get something out of this book, but an open mind will be required. Although we wish that everyone would become Christians like us, we believe that God loves every single person and is trying to reach everybody, including those who do not believe exactly like us. To reach everybody, this requires that God speak to each person in a language they can understand and in a way that matches the culture and history of their particular people group. If Jesus is God, as we believe, then we should have plenty of common ground with members of other faith traditions who love God and worship him. This book examines the crisis in faith that the people in America are currently facing. We examine 15 barriers to faith that often stand in the way of faith and may weaken it. We examine pathways that lead to faith and ways to maintain and strengthen faith over time. We also explore the many spiritual, social, mental, and physical health rewards of faith.
