Born with the ability to see the strings of fate, Julie Seir faces an unanswerable question. Why can't she see her own?

After spending two years pinned under the thumb of a cruel circus ringmaster, Julie devises a plan. She escapes with her sister under the cover of darkness. However, it soon becomes evident that things are not what they seem. She is forced to strike a bargain with a vengeful archer who possesses a dark mission of his own. He sees her as a way to carry out his revenge, and she sees him as her last chance to give her sister a better life. Apart, they are flames. Together, they may blaze brightly enough to illuminate the shadows.
