Prague Triptych

Urzidil, Johannes: - Johannes Urzidil (1896-1970) was a Prague German writer, poet, historian, and journalist of Jewish descent. He was the youngest member of the Prague Circle and a friend of Max Brod, Franz Kafka, about whom he wrote, and Franz Werfel. His wife the daughter of an Orthodox rabbi, when Nazi Germany occupied Bohemia and Moravia in 1939 the Urzidils fled to England, later moving to the United States. He started publishing fiction later in life, and is best known for the collection "The Lost Beloved" and the volume of linked stories "Prague Triptych." Urzidil won a number of awards for his writing.
