Jirasinghe, Ramya Chamalie: - Ramya was joint runner-up to the UK's Guardian Orange First Words Prize of 2009, and the TimesOnline, UK, selected her work for its 2009 collection of contemporary war poetry. Her first book of poems, There's an Island in the Bone, won the State Literary Joint-Award, Sri Lanka, in 2011. Her second collection of poems, Love Poems from a Frangipani Garden, was published in the UK by Mica Press in 2018. Her poetic play, Water for Kings, was staged by Mind Adventures Theatre Company in 2024. Her debut novel, Father Cabraal's Recipe for Love Cake, which won the Gratiaen Prize in 2024, will be published by Penguin Random House India. She lives in Sri Lanka.
