He is the author of several books on ancient history, including 428 AD: An Ordinary Year at the End of the Roman Empire (Princeton). Malcolm DeBevoise is a three-time winner of the French-American Foundation Prize for nonfiction and has translated more than fifty works from French and Italian in every branch of scholarship.
