Born and raised in Philadelphia and its suburbs, he has spent more than half a century researching all kinds of stuff and writing about what he's found; he's an "explainer." When he and his wife aren't traveling around the U.S., Canada, the Yucatan, the Caribbean, France, Italy, Switzerland and the U.K., they live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with their two miniature schnauzers, Trip and Tallie.
