Londyn Voltaire is a regular teenage girl, except for one thing. Well, two things really. She lives alone on the streets of New York City. And she can make flames appear out of her bare hands. After her family dies, Londyn is determined to find her place in society, and when she finally hears about a special school for mages like herself, she's ecstatic- all of her dreams are finally beginning to come true. Or so she thinks. Londyn gets rejected from the school and is forced to pursue her only other option: meeting with a supposed mage who runs a magic shop in her free time. Londyn goes to the shop and it seems as though this opportunity is everything she's dreamed of until secrets are revealed and she discovers that not everyone is who she thinks they are. Factor in magic lessons, a cute boy, and an overbearing possibly-best friend, and everything becomes a mess. Londyn is forced to dig deep and figure out where her values really lay as she makes the most important decision of her life. And even then she is forced to realize that maybe it wasn't the right choice all along. Or was it? Londyn's story is a story of grief and loneliness, but also one of hope.
