Troll, Kate: - See more at Kate Troll's website: http: //www.katetroll.com/ Kate Troll, a long-time Alaskan, has more than 22 years' experience in climate and energy policy, coastal management, and fisheries. She's been elected to public office twice and is currently a regular columnist for the Alaska Dispatch News. In between, she climbs mountains, kayaks with the whales, runs wild rivers, and writes screenplays. The Great Unconformity draws in equal measure from her full career and adventurous life. As Executive Director of the Alaska Conservation Voters, Kate helped draft the creation of the Alaska Renewable Energy Fund and lobbied for the Sustainable Energy Act, a comprehensive road map to generate 50% of Alaska's electrical energy from renewable sources by 2025. She served as Executive Director for United Fishermen of Alaska (nation's largest fishing organization). She also worked as a fisheries development specialist and policy analyst for the State of Alaska. Internationally, Kate was Regional Fisheries Director (North and South America) for the Marine Stewardship Council, a global eco-label program. She was elected to public office twice, serving on the Juneau-Douglas Borough and Ketchikan Borough Assembly. Kate was appointed by Governor Palin to serve on the Alaska Climate Mitigation Advisory Board, and was the only Alaskan invited to participate in Governor Schwarzenegger's 2008 Global Climate Summit. From 2010-2016, she wrote for the Juneau Empire and is currently a columnist for the Alaska Dispatch News. She is writing her third screenplay, Hot Ice, Cold Lies, drawing upon her activist career and wilderness adventures. Kate has skied the Great Gorge of Ruth Glacier, run the Alsek- Tatshenshini Rivers, climbed Mount Denali and Mount Kilimanjaro, rafted through the Grand Canyon in winter, and has kayaked Alaska's outside coast on several occasions. Her explorations provide inspiration for stories that reflect her deep love of place and the wisdom to be found there.
