Woodson, Carter Godwin: - Carter G. Woodson (1875-1950) was an American historian, educator, and author widely known as the "Father of Black History." He founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History and established what later became Black History Month. Through his scholarship and advocacy, Woodson worked to promote a fuller understanding of African American history and its central place in the broader history of the United States.
