Organized into four brief chapters, this book presents the depth and beauty of the psalms--their poetry, images, and verses--while commenting on their meaning. At the end of each chapter the text calls on contemporary theologians and spiritual writers who have explored and developed the themes.

Rev. Thomas P. Rausch, SJ, is the Emeritus T. Marie Chilton Professor of Catholic Theology at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. He is a member of the Anglican/Roman Catholic Consultation USA and cochairs the Los Angeles Catholic/Evangelical Committee for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
