Who paved the way for the Marines, the Army, and the Air Force in World War II? The United States Naval Construction Battalion, better known as Seabees. Through their knowledge of the construction trades, the Seabees literally built the way for the war to be won. The "Enola Gay," the B-29 that dropped the atomic bombs over Japan and ended World War II, took off and landed on the Tinian Island airstrip built by Seabees.
