The Whole of the Heart

Queen Victoria reigns on the throne, but this does little to prevent many London women from being forced to live in the shadows for an equal chance at survival. Ann Yoder joins this underground society on the night of her father's death. Teddy, the stranger who brought the news to her, is the only other person she can rely on.

Hidden behind curtains and shrouded by the night sky, the two form a secret alliance as Ann navigates the struggles of society for a woman in her position. With no family and no husband, she struggles to grapple with juggling her reality and is forced to take any path to keep her sanity and reputation intact. She strikes a deal with the chief of Scotland Yard to secretly work beneath the floorboards in exchange for a place to live. Once her anonymity is compromised, Ann is given twenty-four hours to solve the murder of a child from a prominent family or risk eviction, or worse. Plagued by the anxiety of her situation, Ann is drawn into a web of grief and forced to confront the world's grim truths.

Join Ann on this journey of discovery in this novella, The Whole of the Heart.
