Autobiography of a Female Slave

In a compelling novel that is so strongly grounded in reality it is hard to believe it is fiction, Martha Griffith Browne tells the story of the female slave Ann in the style of a traditional slave narrative. From its initial publication, readers have been entranced by the emotionally powerful narrative and many have believed it to be an authentic account. Browne's Autobiography of a Female Slave presented a masterful abolitionist narrative that strikes home even today.
