Joohi Lee , PhD, is professor of early childhood mathematics education in the Department of Teacher and Administrator Preparation at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). With nearly 20 years of dedicated service at UTA, Dr. Lee has been instrumental in preparing preservice and in-service teachers for excellence in early childhood education, especially in early childhood mathematics pedagogy courses. Her primary research interests focus on early mathematics education, teacher education in early childhood, and children's computational thinking. Additionally, Dr. Lee explores innovative intersections of coding and robotics with children's logical mathematical and computational thinking.
Dr. Lee actively supports her local community by conducting workshops for teachers of young children that focus on mathematical thinking, computational thinking, coding, and robotics. She has an impressive record of scholarly contributions, with over 50 refereed articles published in leading journals and numerous presentations given at local, national, and international conferences. She is also the author of How to Teach Math to Children (Cognella Academic Publishing, 2016), a highly regarded book currently in its second edition, further establishing her as a thought leader in early childhood STEM education.
