D-Day: The Battle for Normandy de Antony Beevor este o relatare ampla si detaliata a unuia dintre cele mai decisive momente din Al Doilea Razboi Mondial. Cartea mi-a oferit o intelegere profunda a complexitatii debarcarii din Normandia si a luptelor care au urmat, dar a fost o lectura solicitanta, mai ales in engleza, cu un stil dens si riguros. Beevor reuseste ca de fiecare data sa imbine strategia militara cu drama umana, evidentiind atat eroismul, cat si suferinta soldatilor si civililor. Ar fi fost placut sa existe si varianta tradusa in limba romana pentru a intelege mai bine O recomand celor pasionati de istorie si celor care vor sa inteleaga mai bine curajul si sacrificiul generatiei bunicilor nostri.
