Vlad Tepes (the Impaler) is one of the most authentic figures in the history of Romania whose real profile was re-established with the help of documentary sources from XV-XVII (official Romanian documents, diplomatic correspondence, official Romanian and foreign chronicles, literary writings).

The cruel "Dracula Voivode" and the ghoulish "Count Dracula" remain near the limit of legend and myth, without succeeding to "unbalance" the authentic Vlad Tepes, hero in the Christian fight against the sultan Mehmed II "the Conqueror".
