Fidelio, the teenage son of a peasant, is a healer-not that he'll admit it. But after enlisting in the Northern Division under Francisco Villa during the Mexican revolution; spending a few years as a shepherd and miner, where he struggled with union corruption; and trying to avoid religious persecution, he finally accepted his gift and dedicated the last years of his life to serving those in need and preaching God's love. In this sprawling tale, the rich and fulfilling life of a simple peasant man is explored against the backdrop of war-torn Mexico and the years following the revolution.
