In some ways, she's just like any other West Coast kid growing up in the late 1960s, preoccupied with riding bikes, the new restaurant with the golden arches, and the most effective way to set up a slip and slide.

But there's a darker side to Audrey's life. Her parents are getting a divorce, there's a war brewing in Vietnam, and she's constantly moving from one house to another, to name just a few of her worries. But as she reflects on the currents that are sweeping her life forward, it's clear there's another, far more malevolent force at play, too. Facing up to what's happened is a terrifying prospect. But it might just help her regain what's left of her childhood.
