Since joining forces in 2011, composer Evan Mack and librettist Joshua McGuire have created a style that sets them apart in the world of contemporary opera. By writing words and music in tandem, they produce theatre grounded in climactic expression. Mack & McGuire deliver larger-than-life stories, and music that harnesses the full athletic thrill of singing. Individually and together, their work has appeared at the Baryshnikov Arts Center, the Seagle Music Colony, Washington National Opera, and numerous colleges and universities. In October 2016, their opera ROSCOE (2014), based on the novel by Pulitzer Prize-winning author William Kennedy, will be performed by the Albany Symphony with renowned soprano, Deborah Voigt. Their latest enterprise is a multi-cultural Christmas opera for children. LUCINDA y las FLORES de la NOCHEBUENA is slated to premiere to thousands of children on both coasts.
