Made Known to Them: An Invitation to the Study of Theology

Made Known to Them: An Invitation to the Study of Theology - Douglas M. Koskela

Made Known to Them: An Invitation to the Study of Theology

Made Known to Them is written for those beginning their journey in the study of Christian theology. It offers an introduction to the nature and purpose of theology by means of an extended meditation on the Emmaus road story of Luke 24. In that story, two disciples of Jesus meet a mysterious stranger along the road. While readers are told that this stranger is the risen Jesus, the disciples do not recognize him until he is "made known to them in the breaking of the bread." Along the way, these disciples experience the company of Jesus in a way that increases both their joy and their knowledge. Luke's telling of the story offers helpful signposts for anyone who desires to know and love God more deeply. In each chapter of Made Known to Them, Douglas M. Koskela explores one of these signposts and reflects on what it means for how we go about the work of theology. In that light, all those who wish to get to the heart of this work--even long-time theologians--are invited to take up these pages.
