Pointe Coupee supplied several hundred men to the Confederate Army during the Civil War. They served in Artillery, Cavalry, Infantry, Home Guard and Reserve Units. The vast majority of the men were in the many infantry units which were formed in the area. The Morgan Rangers was a cavalry units formed in the area which joined with other units under Feliciana native General John Simms Scott to form the First Louisiana Cavalry regiment. Randy DeCuir, with the help of Brian Costello, has attempted to tell the story of where these Feliciana men and their regiment spent four years of the war. Included is a roster with service records of the men of these famous Pointe Coupee Confederates. Battles: Granny White's Pike, Nashville [skirmish] (March 9, 1862); Corinth, Mississippi Campaign (April-June 1862); Athens (May 1-2, 1862); Elk River (May 1-2, 1862); Kentucky Campaign (August 1862); Big Hill (August 23, 1862); Richmond, Kentucky (August 30, 1862); Mumfordville, Kentucky (September 17, 1862); Murfreesboro, Tennessee (Dec. 31, 1862-January 3, 1863); Pegram's Kentucky Raid (March 22-April 1, 1863); Monticello, Kentucky Expedition (April 26-May 12, 1863); Tullahoma, Tennessee, Campaign (June-July 1863), Scott's Eastern Kentucky Raid (July 25-August 6, 1863); Lancaster [skirmish] (July 31, 1863), Chickamauga, Georgia (September 19-20, 1863); Chattonooga Siege (September-November 1863); Chattanooga, Tennessee (November 23-25, 1863); Mount Pleasant Landing, near Port Hudson (May 15, 1864); Doyal's Plantation (August 5, 1864); Thompson's Creek, Louisiana (October 5, 1864); Bayou Sara, Louisiana [skirmishes] (October 9-10, 1864); Liberty, Mississippi (November 18, 1864)
