Claudia Guadalupe Martínez aprendió que las letras forman palabras leyendo subtítulos de las viejas películas del oeste con su padre. Su primera novela, The Smell of Old Lady Perfume, recibió el premio Paterson 2009 para Libros para Jóvenes, el premio al Mejor Libro Juvenil de Texas Institute of Letters en 2008 y una Mención de Honor en los Premios Américas en 2009. Pig Park ganó Mejor Libro Juvenil de Texas Institute of Letters en 2015 y el Premio de Ficción Juvenil de NACCS Tejas Foco en 2015.

Claudia Guadalupe Martínez learned that letters form words from reading subtitles of old westerns with her father. Laura González tiene un título en diseño gráfico de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León en México, donde también estudió ilustración. Ella es miembro de la Asociación Mexicana de Ilustradores (AMDI) y ha ilustrado varios libros infantiles.
