One Falls Down tells the story of Moon Friedman who while on leave from his job as a schoolteacher finds himself being visited by the ghosts of two old friends who will not let him alone until he bears witness to events that took place forty years earlier, involving bookmakers and foreign gangsters, laundered money, prostitutes and a murder made to look like an accident, a homeless drunk and an alleged Jewish saint risen from the dead to possess this homeless man's soul and fix the world
