Artemis was dead. Not dead like her father who had passed years before, but rather hollow inside like a barren almond husk without a nut. Her cries to escape her mother's confusing torture fell upon deaf ears, and yet a voice from a pear tree in her garden whispered of salvation. Could she die and grow again?

What happens when a child's only form of care is provided to them by those who also bring them harm? What is the distinction between reality and the unreal when a child's actions, however extreme, are left unnoticed; or even worse dismissed as lies. PAIR is a fiction story about a child's struggle to make sense of their suffering and salvation when their cries to the outside world are ignored. It is a tale of cycles and the often-entangled nature of abuse, where starting anew may come at a cost.
