What do you do when the end of the world is a downward spiral, not a spontaneous combustion? What do you do if you were told that humanity has an expiration date? The story begins with the discovery of a preserved stegosaurus in ice, which has preserved most of its DNA integrity. The US government keeps this under wraps and secretly and privately hires scientists from all over the world to a highly classified location. As the story develops, one scientist, Luis Hernandez, discovers an anomaly within the internal scans of the dinosaur, which are being performed before completely freeing it from the preserving ice. The technology provides penetrative imaging without probing or physically exposing the fossil. Through the images, he notices that the dinosaur is female and contains an embryo inside, but that the reproductive system shows signs of deterioration, which is more accelerated than any other part of the body. He shows great concern and tries to figure out what might have caused the difference in the rate of deterioration.
