Newly widowed Elizabeth struggles to figure out who she is after more than thirty years of wedded bliss. Seeking tranquility and renewal, she leaves Cambridge, Massachusetts, and rents a cottage at the beach on Cape Cod, where she meets Carla, a Cape native with her own connection to the cottage, although it's one she's not eager to share.
