Strange West Magazine #2

Strange West Magazine #2
STRANGE WEST is the debut magazine devoted to the weirdest of the Wild West! This digest-sized zine is a throwback to the days of tall tales and far-out frontier lore. In this issue we explore the legend and lore of ghost steers, including New Mexico's Old Ruidoso, the Texas M U R D E R steer, and the real-life story that inspired the hit song "Ghost Riders in the Sky". Then, we head up north to New York City, where historian William Mills unearths some rather interesting articles on Billy the Kid's "past" in the Big Apple. And for something truly strange, we'll also look back on a curious court hearing from Mora, New Mexico, where a man was accused of turning into a frog and attacking his wife! In addition to those tales, this issue also contains:
- "Murder in White Oaks" by Joshua Slatten, telling the tragic history of Asian immigrants Au Nue and Wah Sing in one of New Mexico's most famous ghost towns.
- An unabridged FWP story about a cursed treasure hole outside of Roswell, New Mexico.
- The mystery of the "Colorado River Dinosaurs" spotted across the Southwest.
- "UFO Over Coyote Springs" by Noe Torres, reporting a long-forgotten airship sighting near Albuquerque in 1891.
- An interview with artist Jolyon B. Yates on his work on The Real Cowboys and Aliens series plus his favorite Westerns.
- A preview of the new novel Once Upon a Time in Fort Sumner.
